VMTC equips and supports churches in establishing trained, Holy Spirit-led prayer ministry teams that strengthen the church, care for its people, and advance its mission.

The goal of Victorious Ministry Through Christ is to support churches in establishing Prayer Ministry as an integral part of their mission.

Every church of a reasonable size can benefit from having a dedicated prayer ministry team, ensuring that prayer needs are met without placing the full responsibility on the pastor alone. Additionally, churches within a community may collaborate to form a combined prayer ministry team, providing broader support.

If your church already has a prayer ministry team, consider offering training and development to strengthen its effectiveness. However, if a team has not yet been formed, begin by identifying individuals with a passion for prayer who may be willing to start this ministry.

Jesus not only preached but also prayed with people for healing and deliverance. He equipped His disciples to do the same, demonstrating that preaching alone is not enough. The Word of God must be applied in our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit, allowing God to bring about the transformation He desires in us.

The goal, therefore, is to develop a team that can stand alongside the pastor in providing the necessary follow-up prayer ministry. Just as training is essential for effective preaching, prayer ministry also requires proper training to ensure that it is carried out with wisdom, sensitivity, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills to minister in prayer strengthens the church’s ability to support and nurture its members spiritually.

Intro Phase: Implementing a Prayer Ministry in Your Church

1. Explore How to Establish the Ministry

Begin by understanding how VMTC prayer ministry can be implemented in your church and training the first group of members. This process may be initiated by a church leader, pastor, or board decision, or it may start with a church member who has already undergone VMTC training.

2. Host an Information Meeting

Organize an introductory meeting at your church or through your local churches’ ministerial association. Invite a group of VMTC-trained individuals to share insights about the ministry, offer testimonies of those who have benefited, and explain how the ministry can be established in your congregation.

3. Conduct a VMTC Weekend Seminar

Hold a teaching seminar at your church to introduce foundational principles of prayer ministry, spiritual warfare, and freedom in Christ. This event is not for training but for imparting knowledge and equipping believers. Some attendees may also receive personal prayer ministry during the seminar.

4. Train a Dedicated Prayer Ministry Team

Select spiritually mature individuals who are ready to engage in spiritual warfare and intercessory ministry. A team should begin with at least two people, though four is ideal.

Key Training Requirements:

  • A balance of men and women is necessary, as prayer sessions are conducted by both genders.
  • Married couples are ideal candidates for training.
  • The minister should ideally be one of those trained, as they are often the first point of contact for prayer needs.
  • Training involves attending at least three VMTC schools to become a Support Prayer Minister and four schools to qualify as a Lead Prayer Minister.

Once trained, prayer ministers will be able to:

  • Conduct private prayer ministry sessions for church members and others in need.
  • Provide on-the-spot prayer during church services and recognize those who require further prayer ministry.
  • Offer spiritual guidance and intercession for individuals seeking freedom and healing.

5. Gain Ministerial Support

For the ministry to thrive, it is essential for the senior pastor to support and understand the prayer ministry. The minister should:

  • Attend at least one VMTC school to gain firsthand experience.
  • Ideally, be a fully trained and released prayer minister to actively participate in the ministry.

6. Provide Financial Support for Training

A church should invest in its people by subsidizing training costs as a commitment to spiritual growth. Consider:

  • Covering 50% of training expenses for members.
  • Utilizing church investment funds to support training initiatives.
  • Allocating training subsidies as a regular budget item to sustain and grow the ministry.

By following these steps, your church can effectively establish a trained prayer ministry team, ensuring that believers receive ongoing spiritual support, healing, and deliverance.

Building Phase: Establishing a Strong Prayer Ministry in Your Church

1. Adopt VMTC Prayer Ministry as an Official Church Ministry

At some point, church leadership or the congregation should formally adopt VMTC prayer ministry as an official ministry. This provides:

  • Church-wide ownership and support.
  • Encouragement for members to pursue training.
  • Commitment to making prayer ministry a priority.

“That the Board approves VMTC Prayer Ministry to be offered as a ministry of this church.”
can establish a strong foundation for growth.

If the entire church is not ready, consider starting within a smaller group like the prayer team or youth ministry.

  • Attend at least one VMTC school to gain firsthand experience.
  • Ideally, be a fully trained and released prayer minister to actively participate in the ministry.

2. Hold Regular Meetings with Trained Ministers

  • Seek permission from the pastor or church board to hold prayer ministry meetings for trained individuals.
  • Designate a VMTC Prayer Ministry Coordinator to oversee meetings and organize ministry development.
  • Even an annual meeting can help address training needs, discuss ministry progress, and plan for future growth.

3. Train Your Church’s Prayer Ministry Team

If your church already has a prayer team, introduce VMTC training as the foundational method. Aim for:

  • Having as many prayer team members as possible attend at least one school.
  • Training team members to the stage of being released prayer ministers.
  • A church policy decision that supports VMTC as the primary training method for prayer ministry.

4. Run a Prayer Ministry Training Module

  • To make training more accessible, organize a six- to seven-week VMTC training module in your church. This course provides foundational prayer ministry teaching and hands-on experience. A trained prayer team is essential for this step.

5. Promote VMTC Prayer Ministry to the Congregation

  • Announce its availability in church services, bulletins, newsletters, and notice boards.
  • Publish testimonies from people who have experienced breakthroughs through VMTC in church magazines.
  • Allow testimonies to be shared during services to encourage participation.
